To start off this Tying Tuesday, we brought one back from the archives: Matt Grobert’s October Caddis, as tied by Tim Flagler. MidCurrent highlighted this fly back in 2012, and it holds as a classic fall pattern. Next up, Cheech from Fly Fish Food takes us through the Two Tone Perdigón nymph, which, in Cheech’s own description, is built around the idea that many aquatic insects are dark on top and light underneath. Next up is the Fat Head Cicada as tied by AvidMax for his own Tying Tuesday feature. If you’ve been hearing cicadas in the backyard this summer, this one is worth tying to test out on the lake or pond. Charlie Craven rounds things out tying Kelly Galloup’s elegant Dolly Wing Spinner, or, by another name, the Quarterback Spinner. Galloup designed this spinner with little hindwing loops, expanding the fly’s surface area and making it a little easier to spot.
