“Why You Should Fly Fish in the Winter”

Producer: Suffering Outdoors

“I head out for a Pennsylvania winter fly fishing outing after some fresh fallen snow. I am fishing a class A Pennsylvania trout stream in Lycoming County for brook trout and wild brown trout. The fishing conditions were particular tough this day as snow melt had water levels much higher than usual and temps very low. I attempted various tactics such as dead drifting streamers, stripping streamers, tight line / euro nymphing. And finally fishing with an indicator which was the only technique to yield a fish. I love fly fishing in PA in the winter even with the frustrations that come with it. I am using a 10′ 4wt Orvis Clearwater.”
