How to Tie a Bob’s Banger

May 1, 2012 By: Marshall Cutchin

Producer: Tim Flagler

Authored by New Jersey saltwater fly fishing legend Bob Popovic, Bob’s Banger is a durable, easy-to-make popper that features a closed-cell foam body that recovers well from attacks by toothy critters like bluefish and stripers.  Tier Tim Flagler uses Wapsi foam cylinders, in either 5/8″ or 1/2″,  as the bodies for his version.  The bodies become interchangeable and easily replaceable if they are simply slid onto the hook shank, not glued (though gluing adds durability).
