“Exploring the California Wilderness || For Wild’s Sake: The Rare Trout Chronicles | Episode 4”

Producer: Tight Loops

“A series which explores human beings relationship to the natural world, in hopes of gaining a better understanding of how and why we assign value to wild things and places. In a quest to illustrate rare and threatened species of wild native trout in watercolor, artist Chase Bartee and wife Aimee set off on a multi year, cross country adventure of discovery. We pick back up at Death Valley’s famed “Racetrack” playa before making our way out of the valley and onto the California coast. With fishing still taking a back seat, we learn the value of observing nature from a distance. We stop into our friends at Gowesty headquarters, and make some major upgrades/modifications to Bullwinkle, and push him to the limits climbing the Big Sur mountains. But before we can leave California on our way to fish in Pyramid Lake, NV, were struck by the first wave of COVID-19 lockdowns, and are quickly faced with the hard decision to either stay on the road, or seek shelter in a relatives home.”
