Tying Tuesday: Trout, Bass, and Saltwater — Flies for Them All

The first fly to the vise on this edition of Tying Tuesday is a Pastel Hollow Baitfish. Tied by Ahrex’s Kent Korgaard, this deep-bodied pattern is mostly bucktail, known for it’s durability and natural movement in the water. Next up is the Mr. Wiggly topwater bass fly from Snake River Fly. This dry is meant to be twitched after hitting the water and letting the ensuing rings die down. LIFliesMike ties a slim-bodied ballyhoo/needlefish imitation next, a departure from the chunkier baitfish we kicked things off with, but still tied with mostly bucktail. Lastly, Barry Ord Clarke of the Feather Bender ties a very small #18 midge larva, where he carefully twists ultra lace tubing to create the body and thorax — it’s intricate, and worth a try.
