Tying Tuesday: The Jigged Pheasant Tail Nymph, Marsh Rover, Fire Tiger Minnow, and the Crane Fly Daddy Long Legs

This week’s flies head from trout water out to the salt and back again. First up is Charlie Craven’s Jigged Pheasant Tail Nymph, a durable olive version of the classic, tied heavy and built around pheasant fibers that usually go unused. After that it’s Ben’s Weedless Fire Tiger Minnow from Fly Fish Food, a three-material baitfish made to get down into thick weeds for largemouth, light enough to fish on a floating line or off a sink tip. Then the Marsh Rover from Space Coast Flies, a shrimp-style pattern on a jig hook that rides point up in the skinny water where redfish, sheepshead, and black drum feed. Davie McPhail closes the week with his Quick and Easy Crane Fly, a daddy long legs he ties in under three minutes.
