Revelyst Inc. has named Dave Mellon president of Simms Fishing Products and Revelyst Outdoor Performance, the parent company announced. Mellon, who held leadership roles at Simms from 2012 to 2014 and most recently served as a CEO within Kian Capital’s private-equity portfolio, officially began the role on May 18 and is relocating to Bozeman.
The appointment hands Mellon responsibility for Simms and the wider Outdoor Performance brand platform, which is headquartered at the Revelyst Bozeman Innovation Center. The role description emphasizes omni-channel strategy and deeper partnerships with specialty retail customers. Revelyst CEO Eric Nyman said Mellon “understands the technical performance consumer, the importance of our retailers” and the work of building strong brands and teams. Mellon, in his own statement, pointed to execution, consumer connection, and long-term success as priorities.
Mellon’s first stint at Simms ran from 2012 to 2014, including a role as vice president of marketing and product. He later became CEO of Grundéns and most recently, CEO within Kian Capital’s private-equity portfolio. According to the release, he has run organizations of more than 250 employees and businesses generating more than $400 million in annual revenue, with experience that spans established category leaders, emerging brands, and turnarounds.
Simms, established in 1980, manufactures waders, outerwear, and technical fishing apparel and accessories. The brand sits within Revelyst’s larger portfolio, which includes Bushnell, CamelBak, Giro, Bell, Fox, and Foresight Sports. Outdoor Performance, the Bozeman-based platform Mellon now leads, includes Simms and several other outdoor brands within the Revelyst portfolio.
