From “frumpy old farts” to “hippy bros,” fly fishing is developing an increasingly diverse demographic base. And as James Joiner walks the Fly Fishing Show in Marlborough, MA, he wonders at how varied people and their opinions on the sport congeal on one issue: the hope of catching a fish. “Is it ridiculous,” Joiner writes, “that something so seemingly trivial could transcend stereotypes and norms?
