Tippets: Winter Tenkara, Hatchery vs. Wild

  • Winter fishing brings its own set of unique frustrations. And in a recent piece on Hatch Magazine, Ben Kryzinski wonders whether tenkara might be the answer for at least a few of the challenges of cold weather fishing.
  • The Nooksack River has been closed to fishing to protect hatchery fish. Osprey Steelhead News has a good exposition on this recent decision by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. ā€œUntil we emphasize the protection of wild fish and the fisheries they can support we’ll continue to squander millions of dollars a year all in the name of perpetuating a broken system of hatcheries and river closures.ā€
