AFFTA Announces New Grant Program for Fisheries Conservation & Education
American Fly Fishing Trade Association Develops Funding Mechanism for Fly Fishing Organizations and Projects
Bozeman, MT: The American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA) has created a funding arm dedicated to furthering fly fishing conservation and educational organizations and programs. The AFFTA Fisheries Fund is targeted at fly fishing specific issues and organizations and funding by revenue from the International Fly Tackle Dealer (IFTD) show. The Fisheries Fund will begin accepting grant applications immediately, with hopes of funding projects and organizations before the end of the year.
“As the industry trade organization, we are delighted to have a funding arm devoted to moving fly fishing forward… whether that is through conservation issues preserving habitat and access, or educational opportunities to inspire our young people to pick up a rod early in life,” stated AFFTA president Ben Bulis.
AFFTA partnered with Newdea, a philanthropic granting and data management company to create an online portal for submissions to the Fisheries Fund. To visit the site, register and submit your grant application please visit www.affta.com and click on the AFFTA Fisheries Fund icon.
“The Fisheries Fund is a program that a healthy, pro-active and forward-thinking trade association should be doing, and it’s great that due to strong leadership for the organization and the highest levels of member support we’ve ever seen, that AFFTA is in a position to financially support the projects, groups and events that are furthering the sport and the business of fly fishing,” remarked Jim Klug, former AFFTA board chair and current chair of the grant committee.
“AFFTA Fisheries Fund is just one more benefit AFFTA provides our members and the industry and sport of fly fishing. I’m proud of the board, staff and all of the hard work that has gone into making this program a reality,” board chairman Tucker Ladd stated.
