A New Era: Cutthroats Spawn at Pyramid Lake

In a testament to restoration efforts at Pyramid Lake, Lahontan cutthroat trout have spawned up the Truckee River for the first time in 76 years. “It’s important in terms of showing this population still retains its intent to reproduce naturally,” says Lisa Heki, fisheries complex manager for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. “It’s a new era.”
