  • Water pollution is threatening mayfly populations in Ireland, resulting in their placement on the “red list” for threat of extinction. The implementation of the objectives of the Water Framework Directive, however, should bring about improvement in water quality and help stem losses in aquatic biodiversity.
  • Scientists out of Michigan State University have confirmed that a specimen found in the Gulf of Mexico on April 7, 2011, was indeed a two-headed bull shark, and not conjoined twins. The finding is the first of its kind to be documented.
