In March, the Department of Natural Resources will hold an angling auction for prime fishing locations along some of New Brunswick’s Atlantic salmon and trout waters.

This event will take place on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at 10 a.m. AST in the K.C. Irving Theatre of the Hugh John Flemming Forestry Centre, 1350 Regent St, Fredericton.

In addition to the live auction, interested parties may also submit bids online between Feb. 27 and March 12, 2013.

The auction is for angling leases on Crown-owned Atlantic salmon waters including stretches primarily along New Brunswick’s famous Restigouche, Miramichi and Tabusintac river systems.

There are 17 Crown angling leases available for auction, including 16 river leases that together are 158 kilometres in length. Of the 16 leases, nine are located in the Restigouche drainage, six in the Miramichi drainage and one in the Tabusintac drainage. The remaining lease is for Dicks Lake in Kings County.

New Brunswick has been leasing Crown angling waters to the public continuously since 1883.
