  • The Atlantic menhaden population has been decreasing in recent years due to overharvesting. And this week, regulation has been decided upon to lower catch limits, hopefully helping to restore balance to this species at the heart of the ecosystem.
  • Having chased permit on the fly since the 1950s, Chico Fernandez is a wealth of information. He shares some in a recent article on Fly Rod & Reel.
  • David Strayer, a University of Utah psychology professor, has focused his research on the connection between the outdoors and creativity.  “When you get away from that hustle and bustle and out in nature…” Strayer writes, “your brain can replenish, become sharper and focus on thinking.” So that time spent on the water isn’t just about catching fish, after all.
