“Fishing for a Dog” Fundraiser

September 22, 2012 By: Marshall Cutchin

16-year-old Tucker Dodson and his friend Luke Varadi, who was diagnosed with type I diabetes when he was three, have developed a bond over flats fishing that extends far beyond the water.  Tucker is now helping to raise money for a $20,000 service dog for Luke, who taught him much of what he knows about low country fishing.

“In the night now I have to wake up every hour or two just to check my numbers because they’re changing in the night,” said Luke.   “I never knew how much of a hardship it was for him to grow up until now. 16 years he’s been dealing with it. It has changed his life,” said Tucker.
