PATAGONIA FLY FISHING SWEEPS THE 2012 IFTD SHOW, WINNING FOUR ‘BEST OF SHOW’ AWARDS

Company Wins More New Product Awards Than Any Other Brand, Taking Home ‘Best Wading Gear’, ‘Best Outerwear’, ‘Best Eco-Friendly Product’ and ‘Best General Apparel’.

VENTURA, Calif. (August, 2012) — Patagonia Inc., the outdoor apparel company, is proud to announce it’s winning line-up of products that received four coveted awards at this years IFTD show. The annual IFTD Show, the world’s largest exhibition of fly fishing products, was held in Reno, Nevada in August this year. Winning more awards than any other brand at the IFTD show speaks to the company’s commitment to bringing the world’s finest fly fishing products to market. Innovation is the company’s singular focus and Spring ’13 represents this commitment across every product category.

Winning ‘Best Wading Gear’, the new Rio-Gallegos Zip-Front Waders utilizes the company’s innovative new Single Seam Construction (SSC). SSC is a breakthrough in wader design that eliminates seams on the interior and exterior of the leg – major wear points – and uses only a single seam up the back of the leg for greater durability and greatly reduced abrasion. This wader also utilizes a new 4-layer polyester microfiber fabric with a proprietary waterproof/breathable barrier and Bluesign-approved NanoSphere DWR that is highly durable and puncture resistant without multiple layers or added weight.

Winning ‘Best Outerwear’ and also recent recipient of EFFTEX’s 2013 “Best New Clothing” award, the new 3-in-1 River Salt Jacket is the warmest, most versatile outerwear system for cold weather fishing on the market. The snap-out Nano Puff Shirt can be worn alone, as can the exterior waterproof shell.

Winner of the ‘Best Eco-Friendly Product’, Patagonia’s R1 Full-Zip Jacket is designed to be warm and breathable with greater moisture-wicking capabilities, and is made with recycled Polartec Power Dry fabric that is bluesign-approved. Additionally, the entire jacket is recyclable at the end of its life.

Taking home the ‘Best General Apparel’ award, the Minimalist Wading Jacket is ultralight and provides all of the features of a waterproof, fully-featured wading jacket in an 11-ounce package.

“Being the recipient of such respected awards represents Patagonia’s commitment to exhaustive product testing, listening to our hardcore fishing consumers and responding to our dealers’ needs,” notes Bart Bonime, business unit director for fly fishing, “These awards are important to the company, as our founder Yvon Chouinard’s directive is to build the world’s best fishing products. It is incredible to be recognized for doing just that.”

The entire Spring 2013 Patagonia Fly Fishing Collection will be available in January 2013.
