Ryan Harrison goes back in history to talk about how his parent company the C1 Design Group invented the first clipless pedal for bikes and the “headshok” suspension system for Cannondale, and how those concepts translated into fly fishing products in 1995-96.

Ryan says, “You just don’t find product design firms in fly fishing—you find manufacturers, you find machine shops, or you find marketing companies that put their name on something that somebody else makes.  Ultimately almost all fly reels besides us trace back to design being done at the level of manufacturing by machinists…. Our background is industrial design and it’s its own discipline….”
