Sage's Two-handed "ONE" Rod

Sage Manufacturing just announced the release of the two-handed ONE fly rod collection. This new wide range of rods is designed for numerous steelhead and salmon fishing scenarios with both spey and switch options.

After the single-handed ONE rod collection won major awards in 2011-2012, including the EFTTEX Best Fly Rod, IFTD Best Freshwater and Saltwater Fly Rod, Field & Stream’s Best of the Best, and Men’s Journal Gear of the Year and, the two-handed ONE rods are a natural progression.

The fast-action, two-handed ONE fly rods use Konnetic™ technology making them noticeably more accurate and lighter weight with a decidedly thinner profile. Thanks to the shaft’s enhanced torsional stability, these rods recover extremely quickly while moving through the cast. This optimizes load carry and line speed for long, smooth casts every time. Combining these attributes makes long days of swinging flies effortless by decreasing fatigue and minimizing wind resistance.

“Konnetic technology allows a decrease in lateral movement and vibrations keeping anglers more connected to the cast, the line, mends and the swing and ultimately to more fish,” says Sage Marketing Manager, Eric Gewiss. “After the success of the single-handed ONE, anglers anticipating the release of this rod in the two-handed version will not be disappointed.”

“In addition to the popular steelhead and salmon choices, this collection of double handers covers the needs for anglers wishing to swing flies for trout as well as a model designed for popping off long overhead style casts with big striped bass flies,” notes Chief Fly Rod Designer Jerry Siem.

This collection of ONE rods continues using the sleek Black Ice shaft color with black primary thread wraps and bronze trim wraps. A down-locking aluminum reel seat is relative to rod size throughout the line. Hard chrome snake guides and tip-top ensure no binding or pinching of the line to allow easier mending and better control of the line. Each rod comes with a black powder-coated aluminum rod tube with Sage medallion and a hand-made rod sock.

The two-handed ONE rods will be available at Sage authorized retail locations in June with a selection of 14 switch and spey models. These rods range from 4-10-weights and are priced from $850 to $1025.

About Konnetic™ Technology:

Konnetic technology, uses new materials combined with pioneering manufacturing methods and processes. This technology incorporates an optimized ratio of Sage’s proprietary resin to exclusive high modulus aerospace-grade carbon fiber.

The latest construction methods include Sage’s Advanced Modulus Positioning System (AMPS); a process that precisely aligns and positions carbon fiber materials to exacting tolerances for the greatest blank strength delivering extremely efficient energy transfer throughout the shaft. Using Sage’s High Compression Molding process, carbon fibers are compacted for optimum density and precise alignment while simultaneously fusing the 50% lighter all-carbon fiber inner core.
