Montanans Celebrate Mother’s Day with Dry Flies

Dry fly fishing will be fruitful this Mother’s Day as the Madison and Yellowstone Rivers experience excellent spring conditions. Snow pack levels in Montana coupled with seasonable temperatures have kick started the Mother’s Day caddis hatch.

“We have near perfect conditions for the Mother’s Day caddis hatch this year. In the past week the hatch has been coming off every day around 2 p.m. and bringing a lot of trout to the surface,” said Brian McGeehan, outfitter at Montana Angler Fly Fishing.
