Tippets: Night Trout (Saltwater), Columbia River Trust, Mondavi’s Fish-Friendly Wine, Florida Fly Fishing Issue
- A cool, clear summer night, fly rod in hand under the lights of the dock with a possibility of trout of the saltwater variety, should be enough to make any fly-fisherman jump.
- The Columbia Land Trust, in conjunction with the Bonneville Power Administration has purchased 560 acres near the mouth of the Columbia River. The purchase will benefit young salmon and steelhead gaining strength in the estuary.
- Peter Mondavi, proprietor of the Charles Krug vineyard, has made an effort to modify farming techniques to protect steelhead in the nearby Napa River. However, Jessica Reeder points out that you will not find the organic label on his wines and some other similar vineyards despite the clean farming techniques because of some vinification techniques that are harmless to the fishery; a tip to keep in mind when attempting to find fish-friendly wine.
- A new issue of Florida Fly Fishing Magazine has been released. Among the contributors is fishery expert Dr. Aaron Adams.
