Tippets: Pick Up the Bear Spray, Yellowstone Fees Raised, Fly-Fishing “Broads”
- With bear season quickly approaching, fly fishers need to take heed of a recent study done by Dr. Stephen Herrero, an expert in animal behavior. Herrero found that when people use firearms in bear encounters 51 percent of the subjects were injured and 61 percent of the bears perished while with bear spray 98 percent of the humans were unscathed and no bears perished.
- Fishing permit fees for Yellowstone Park will be increased this year in an effort to ramp up the restoration of the native Yellowstone cutthroat trout that is threatened by the non-native lake trout.
- Mharie Sinclaire is the “head broad” of a fly-fishing club she recently started: “Broads with Rods.” Sinclaire took up fly-fishing after having problems with her back, and as a result her bone density improved by 30 percent.
