National Geographic‘s interactive map of the world’s freshwater resources reveals some little-understood realities, like the tiny amount of water now trapped in glaciers and ice sheets, the minimal distribution of wetlands, and fact that underground aquifers are not being recharged sufficiently in many high-population areas of the earth.
