Podcast: Rosenbauer’s 15 Tips for Evening Hatches

March 18, 2011 By: Marshall Cutchin

In an hour-long podcast, Tom talks about transporting rods and reels, gel spun vs. dacron backing, and evening hatches and why they present such a great time to fly fish.

“I’ve heard it said a lot that fishing gets good in the evening because the water temperatures drop and the insects get active and the fish get active. Actually, the water temperature doesn’t drop much in the evening. Sometimes the water temperature is actually at maximum in the evening because water gains and loses heat quite slowly…. So it’s really not cooling water that causes insects to go crazy.”
