When Dr. Slick designed their new bent shaft scissors, their main goal was to make it easier for fly tiers to don their scissors without having to fumble around with them or slide them to the edge of their fly tying bench. What they found, however, is that tying with the bent shaft scissors also reduces hand and arm fatigue, as you don’t have to repeatedly bend your wrist at odd angles. MSRP is $14 to $16 depending on model length.

Large Rotary Whip Finisher

For 2011, Dr. Slick has also added a large rotary whip finisher to their product line-up. The large size allows tiers to easily tie a whip finish knot over the heads of large flies, or at points on the hook which are far from the hook eye. MSRP is $7.50.
