Turns out that the young man Lakewood, Colorado police believe is responsible for the rash of fly shop thefts in the Denver area was asking to test-cast rods and reels, then running off with merchandise. And apparently he knew where Patagonia is, which makes him not your normal thief. Police caught up to him when he tried to pawn several reels.
“‘We took out back with a set up and he cast it for a while. He cast very well and he asked me if he could try a different set up so I walked back in the shop to get it, walked back out and he had ran off with the rod,’ [Hook Flyfishing shop co-owner Shannon] Long said. On 9News.com.
