RIO Products introduces two new series of Skagit Shooting Heads
IDAHO FALLS, October 1st, 2009 – RIO Products, the leader in spey line innovation and design, proudly announces the launch of two new series of Skagit Shooting Heads for the discerning spey caster – “Skagit Flight” heads and “Skagit Short” heads.
The new Skagit Flight heads have been designed for maximum flight time, effortless casting strokes and the tightest and sweetest of loops. Based on the extraordinarily successful AFS head, the line features a heavy back end that loads rods deeply and easily and a subtle taper that ensures the energy flows smoothly to the tip, generating gorgeous loops and long, long flight times and distance. The front end has a thick tip that packs a big punch and easily lifts out heavy tips and large flies with supreme ease. The heads are a pale orange in color and vary in length between 24 ft and 32 ft, depending on the size. The new Flight heads weigh between 425 and 750 grains and increase in size every 25 grains, which ensure that even the most fastidious of casters will be able to tune their rod to perfection.
The new Skagit Short heads are designed for Skagit style casting with shorter rods – both single handed rods and switch rods. The heads are chartreuse green in color and are 20 ft (6,2m) long (the perfect ratio for rods between 9 ft and 11ft) while the head weights are light enough for rods down to a #5. The sizes range from 275 to 525 grains and increase 50 grains per size.
All the Skagit heads require a shooting line to be attached at the back end, and a tip of the required density to the front – and the heads feature RIO’s exceptionally neat, bullet proof loops to allow anglers to do this easily.
Both series of Skagit Heads have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $49.95 and are available from all authorized RIO dealers.
