Most well-heeled British anglers — including Eric Clapton — are staking claim on properties bordering famous rivers and streams, which are finally showing the benefits of a decades-long effort to return them to their former glory. “Clapton, 61, is believed to be looking for a riverside house with a spot of fly-fishing, but even he, despite a fortune estimated at £135m by The Sunday Times Rich List, will face stiff competition from serious anglers and well-heeled ‘tackle tarts’, as well as buyers who simply dream of owning a garden with a river running through it.” In the London Times.
