California Rejects Conservation Curbs

November 8, 2006 By: Marshall Cutchin

Proposition 90, which conservation group California Trout called “perhaps one of the worst statewide propositions to come up for a vote,” was rejected by California voters yesterday. (A similar effort in Montana to place limitations on the ability of local governments to pass environmental laws was recently labeled “fraudulent” by the courts.) Another initiative — Proposition 84, which provides critical funding for improving water quality and the condition of streams, beaches and bays — passed. Congratulations to the folks at CalTrout who worked hard on getting the word out about these important votes.
