Big Hole Farmers Show Disregard for Wild Trout

September 8, 2006 By: Marshall Cutchin

Montana Tech professor Dr. Pat Munday, author of Montana’s Last Best River: The Big Hole and Its People, circulated photos this week of an example of huge diversion dams on the Bighole River near Melrose, Glen, and Notch Bottom. The photos are amazing, considering that the lower Big Hole was closed two weeks ago because the river had reached a trigger point of 150 cubic feet per second (cfs) on Wednesday, Aug. 23 at the USGS gage at Melrose, where these pictures where taken.
