You don’t often hear Maggie Merriman mentioned in the same breath with Joan Wulff, widely recognized as a legend among fly fishing women. But her contributions to the sport are enormous, as Dave Strege points out in this extensive profile. “She became one of the first women to be hired as a consultant for a fishing rod manufacturer in 1981. The following year she introduced the first fly-fishing vest for women. A colored lining with matching colored zippers gave it a feminine touch. In 1995, she created the FFF’s National Women’s Educational Fly-Fishing Program.”
