One man has made a very big difference in preserving the pristine conditions surrounding one of the few wild trout rivers in the Connecticut River Valley. “Before World War II, Maxwell Belding planted thousands of hemlocks and conifer stands. When he returned from the war, Belding and the Connecticut Forest and Park Association planted thousands more.” Tommy Hine in the Hartford Courant.
