USDA Uses NASA Satellites to Monitor Lake Water Levels

“A few NASA satellites designed to study heights of Earth’s ocean surfaces are now also coming in handy for tracking water levels of inland lakes and reservoirs.” This announcement is particularly interesting because it a marks a trend away from depending on local water levels reports. The data is real-time and shows how technology can reach beyond accessible regions to see what is actually happening in remote parts of the world.
