Fly Fishing, July 1922

“A scow with horses then came through the pool….” R. Hewitt wrote this fine piece on dry fly fishing for salmon in the 1920s. He uses (coins?) the phrase giving him the butt. Somehow he writes as if he had all the time in the world; compared to some current outdoors journalism, there’s genuine immersion happening here.
