How to Tie the Frenchie Nymph

Producer: Tim Flagler  |  Tightline Productions

Tim Flagler demonstrates how to tie a Frenchie Nymph, a favorite of competitive fly fishers and especially those who fish multi-fly rigs.  The features of the Frenchie Nymph include a gold tungsten bead head, Coq de Leon tail, UV pink thorax, and an ample and brightly colored thread collar.

“Different colors of thread, dubbing and pheasant tail can dramatically change the look of a standard Frenchie,” notes Flagler.

Tim – once again an excellent video with those little tips – i.e. reversing the thread using the wire and “counterclockwising” the thread to get it to “jump” to the left – great stuff!! And I don’t know who does your background music work – but it is so appropriate to your videos – keep it up

Well I am going have to try these, my winter fly fishing is almost here, once my deer hunting is over for the season. I usually will fly fish on Christmas Day if all my tags has been filled. And the little tricks come in handy too.

is there something different about a “competition style barbless hook” or is this really the same as the 1x nymph hook you used post barb mashdown?
