How to Tie Matt’s Sulphur Emerger

Producer: Tim Flagler  |  Tightline Productions

Matt Grobert ties his Matt’s Sulphur Emerger. As videographer Tim Flagler notes, sulphur hatches are some of the most anticipated hatches of the year, but they can also be the most frustrating to fish effectively. Grobert ties this pattern on a Dai-Riki #125 size 14 hook, but it’s a good idea to have sulphur emergers in size 16 in your box too.

This pattern is typically fished in the surface film, and it’s important to remember that trout will sometimes begin looking for emerging sulphurs an hour or so before the hatch even begins.
