fly fishing photography

Robert Hawkins

Born and raised in Bozeman, Robert Hawkins had logged more hours in a drift boat than most adult anglers by age 2. “I was lucky to have a dad who was an avid fly fisherman in the 70s.” Inspired by his great grandfather Richard Throssel, famous for his photography of the Native American people, Robert picked up a camera at an early age. Studying photography in high school and continuing through college, the merging of fly fishing and photography was inevitable. Robert has guided in Alaska and Montana and is now a full time employee of Simms Fishing Products. If he is not building waders at Simms or guiding on the weekend, he’ll be on one of the many local rivers camera in one hand, rod in the other.
