“We were blown away by the response to the Orvis match,” says Casting for Recovery Executive Director, Whitney Milhoan, “Our supporters really rose to the challenge, and we exceeded our $10,000 goal in just a few days, raising over $31,000 to support our 2015 program season. As our longest-standing sponsor, Orvis continues to give generously to ensure we’re able to continue serving breast cancer survivors, introducing them to the healing properties of fly fishing.”

The funds raised will be directly applied to CfR’s fly fishing retreats for breast cancer survivors. Fifteen different retreats will benefit from campaign donations, serving women in California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Montana, Oregon, Tennessee, Vermont/New Hampshire, Wyoming and New York. “This campaign made a huge impact for us this year,” says Milhoan, “This is the second year our friends at ORVIS have given us the opportunity to do a donation match, and it’s an incredible way to kick-off our 2015 retreat season.”

“We are so grateful to all the supporters who have helped Casting for Recovery reach this outstanding fundraising goal,” said Bill Eyre, Orvis Director of Branding and Corporate Marketing. “We are a big believer in these retreats and thank Casting for Recovery and the many volunteers who help make them happen.”

In 2015, CfR will host 40 retreats in 36 states and has served more than 7,000 women to date. To learn more, apply for a retreat, volunteer or donate, visit http://castingforrecovery.org.
