Redington Introduces Fly Fishing Team

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

May 20, 2014 (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) – Redington, maker of performance fly rods, reels, waders, apparel and accessories, is pleased to welcome four members to Team Redington. The diverse group of athlete-anglers combine a passion for fly fishing with adventurous outdoor lifestyles to provide inspiration for the brand and introduce new people to the sport.

Redington is passionate about connecting more people to the sport of fly fishing,” says Redington marketing manager, Kirsten Ashmore. “Team Redington has been, and will be, carefully selected to include ‘non-traditional’ anglers who love fly fishing and are excited about introducing the sport to new audiences.”

KC Badger is a sponsored BMX biker from Arizona, who is eager to bring a different way of thinking to the brand. “Everything I do in life is passion-driven and fly fishing is no different,” notes Badger. “I plan to introduce a younger, more action sports lifestyle to the brand and show that it’s about more than just the fishing—it’s about the journey, the friends you make, the places you see, and the stories you tell.”

At age 23, pro snowboarder Austin Leonard looks forward to introducing a younger generation to fly fishing. “Redington offers quality, durable, and reliable products for every fly fisherman in any fishing scenario, and my peers in the snowboarding industry really appreciate exactly that about Redington gear,” states Leonard. “Being part of a brand that is accepting of my lifestyle and believes in my ability to grow the sport is thrilling and I look forward to traveling with Team Redington in 2014.”

A former pro-kayaker and team manager for Dagger Kayaks, Ken Hoeve is now a pioneer of whitewater Stand Up Paddling. When he’s not SUP’ing Class IV rapids, Hoeve, a lifelong fisherman, uses his board to access hard-to-reach water with his fly rod. “Many of today’s SUP boards are super stable, durable and affordable,” says Hoeve. “I can take my board to places you can’t access wading or with a raft. I’m thrilled to be part of the Redington team and to introduce more people to the possibilities of SUP fishing.”

Guy Jeans is a certified fly casting instructor from Oregon who is passionate about teaching people to fly fish using Redington gear. “I spend much of my free time traveling around Oregon and California teaching clinics throughout the year, and having Redington’s support behind me is instrumental in getting the message across that fly fishing can be approachable, fun, and affordable,” says Jeans.
