NRX ‘LP’ Fly Rod From Loomis Takes Yellowstone Angler’s Five Weight Shootout Honors
Continuing its annual efforts of testing new fly rods, the crew at George Anderson’s Yellowstone Angler fly shop just recently completed its ‘Five Weight Shootout’, with the G.Loomis NRX Lite Presentation rod taking top honors.
Among the 29 fly rods tested, the NRX LP five weight scored at the maximum or above in its performance at 25-feet, 45-feet and 70-feet, along with 20 out of 20 score for ‘Perfect 5 Weight Performance’ and a 10 out of 10 score in the ‘Fun To Fish – Got To Have’ category. In his comments about the rod, Anderson said “Steve (Rajeff – chief rod designer at G.Loomis) is a master at building rods with nice progressive soft tips and this is one reason that G.Loomis has made some of our favorite rods over the years.”
Anderson is one of the more influential fly shop owners in the U.S., and is sought out by many fly rod companies for his thoughts on design and to test prototype rods. “All of us at G.Loomis are extremely pleased to know George and his staff think so highly of our new NRX LP rod,” said Josh Linn, fly sales manager at G.Loomis. “Having all the expertise that Steve Rajeff brings to the design side, plus the many years of experience within our manufacturing staff, and you have a great combination to build great fly rods.”
Introduced at the 2012 ICAST Show, along the ‘Five Weight Shootout’ winner, the G.Loomis NRX Lite Presentation fly rod line-up also includes both a 7-foot-6-inch and 8-foot-8-inch three weights, and a 9-foot four weight. All four rods are available in both ‘NRX Green’ and ‘NRX Blue’ blank colors. The feature black Ion coated REC Recoil guides, and a G.Loomis custom reel seat and grip design.
Anderson and his Yellowstone Angler shootout test crew, including James Anderson, Josh Edwards and Paul Bloch give their thoughts about the G.Loomis NRX LP fly rod and all the other rods on the Yellowstone Angler web site at www.yellowstoneangler.com.
