The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission has announced it intends to pursue a new sportfish designation that will include tarpon as a catch and release only species. The decision was made at Wednesday’s meeting in Tampa.
Tarpon can currently be harvested by a guide or angler who possesses a $50 tag. Reasons for harvesting include submission to the IGFA for world record recognition.
