One Year After Irene: a Photo Essay

September 4, 2012 By: Erin Block

One year after Tropical Storm Irene, Phil Monahan writes a thoughtful and informative photo essay about the impact it had on his favorite brook trout stream, the Roaring Branch of the Walloomsac River in Bennington, Vermont. “Until yesterday, I had not returned to the Roaring Branch with a fly rod. I guess I was afraid of what I would find.” says Monohan, “But with the anniversary of Irene on Tuesday, I decided that it was time to check things out.” And what he finds, is a river making a comeback.
