“Trout Bum of the Year”

Headhunters Fly Shop in Craig, Montana gives their first “First Annual Trout Bum of the  Year” award to “Pete,” who uses “[a]n old copy of Edible Plants of the Rocky Mountain West helps Pete supplement his diet with local fare such as Yucca Root. Wild Rabbits find their way into Petes’s stew pot, with the help of small snares set about the island.”  Camping 136 days on the Missouri river does comes with its dangers: “During the first part of his season on the Missouri River he braved snow storms, freezing temperatures, and fierce winds. After setting up camp below a looming rock face he returned home one evening to find his tent crushed by a boulder.”
