Mexican Guides: From Lobster to Permit

While some international saltwater angling destinations will rely on Keys guides to lead guests to their chosen quarry, lodges on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula look for the expertise of local lobstermen. “There are three good jobs you can find in Punta Allen,” guide Gerardo Velasquez told Chris Santella for the New York Times. “Lobster fishing, eco guiding, and guiding fly fishermen. Guiding fishermen pays better than guiding eco-tourists, and it’s fun.”
