Fishing for Votes?

Politicians from the Midwest and Rocky Mountains took time out of their busy schedules recently for some much-needed time on the water. Congressman Tim Waltz of Minnesota and Governor Brian Schweitzer of Montana enjoyed their respective states’ excellent fly fishing opportunities.

Schweitzer was fishing Silver Bow Creek, a fishery on the road to recovery after experiencing contamination from mine waste. “That creek is more valuable than copper and gold,” said angling partner Bud Lilly. Comparisons to be drawn, perhaps?

Both politicians followed in the footsteps of our Commander in Chief, who enjoyed his first fly fishing outing on the East Gallatin River in Montana in 2009.
