Mary Ann Dozer: Recovering Corporate Engineer

April 6, 2012 By: Benjamin Clary

Mary Ann Dozer is what many call a “product of the downturn,” a term usually uttered in sympathetic, hushed tones.  However, after being offered a buyout from Hewlett Packard, Dozer took the opportunity to follow a lifelong passion:  fly-fishing.  Her response to the offer:  “I was like ‘you can buy me out!’ Pay me to fish!”  Now, rather than spending 12 months a year in an office, she spends three, mid-June to mid-September, guiding the Salmon River in Idaho and the others guiding on Oregon’s McKenzie River.
