Staying Safe

Colorado physician Dr. Roger Matthews, along with being trained in orthopedics, nutrition and exercise training, is an avid outdoorsman, having done his first solo backpacking trip at the age of 12.  And because treatments are different in the wilderness than they are in an urban setting, Dr. Matthews answered a few questions for Kirk Deeter about things anglers should keep in mind for their next backcountry trip.

Ranging from items that he brings with him on a trip (such as super glue for closing cuts) to protecting oneself for liability purposes, the interview exposes anglers to issues that can arise when traditional medical care is nowhere in sight.
