New Books: Dick Pobst Autobiography
Author and former fly shop owner Dick Pobst, now 80, just released a new autobiography in which he recounts a life that started with fiberglass rods and panfish and went on to include fishing with experts all over the world and helping thousands learn to identify streamside insects. Pobst’s A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Trout Stream: 40 years Trout Fishing in Europe and North America includes vignettes about the author’s relationships with many remarkable characters, including Carl Richards, Robert Traver (John Voelker), Perk Perkins, Ernest Schwiebert and Ed Zern. Howard Meyerson offers more detail in The Grand Rapids Press.
