Three Tips from an Absolute Novice
“If you’re the fish, go ahead and bite the gosh-durn fly for once,” is one tip from novice fly-fishermen Christian Woodard of the Addison County Independent. Imagining something akin to a scene in “A River Runs Through It”, Woodard quickly realizes the difficulties of tricking wily brook trout. However, a novice’s perspective allows a more experienced angler to appreciate what is important. Despite creating a “knot with more complexity than the human eye”, Woodward writes that the trip was great because of the wildlife watching (and because his fishing partner was skunked as well).
