Yakima Fly Fishing Beginnings

Back when fly fishing was more of a quirky hobby — before “A River Runs Through It” and Tarponwear — guides actually appreciated company on the river or the flats.  Long-time Yakima river guide Tim Irish remembers the time: “The first time I saw another guide, I pulled up next to him in my boat and said, ‘Are you guiding?’ and he said, ‘Yeah,’ and I got out, shook his hand and I said, ‘Welcome. Man, it’s pretty lonely out here,’ Irish said.” Josh Petrie in the Daily Record.
