AMFF to Open “Women in Fly Fishing” Exhibition

Calling its exhibition “the first large-scale exhibition to celebrate women’s contributions to the sport,” the American Museum of Fly Fishing yesterday announced the opening of “A Graceful Rise: Women in Fly Fishing Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow.” It plans a grand opening event on June 11-12, when the museum will play host to 20 of the top women in the fly fishing industry, who will be coming to Manchester, VT from all across the country and as far away as British Columbia, Canada and Belize to participate in a weekend of workshops and demonstrations.

Women in Fly Fishing Symposium, Saturday, June 11 and Sunday June 12 – Join the American Museum of Fly Fishing to celebrate the launch of our new groundbreaking exhibition, A Graceful Rise:  Women in Fly Fishing Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow, with an opening weekend event and symposium featuring presentations, demonstrations, displays, and casting workshops which will take place on both days from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  This is your opportunity to meet some of the most significant women figures in the sport including:   Fanny Krieger, Lori-Ann Murphy, Diana Rudolph, Joan Salvato Wulff, and many more.  All activities will take place at the Museum’s grounds on Main Street and the presentations will be held at the neighboring Orvis Fly Fishing School building.    Schedule is subject to change.  Visit our website at www.amff.com for an up-to-date schedule and time table.  The opening weekend event is sponsored by the Orvis Company with media support courtesy of the Black’s Fly Fishing Directory and Outdoors Magazine.

Cost for the program includes admission to the exhibition gallery to view A Graceful Rise.  Daily rate for the opening events is $10 for adults, $5 kids 5-13, and $20 for families ( 2 adults and up to 3 children).  Enjoy both days for a reduced rate:  adults are $15; kids are $8, and families are $30.  Members are always free.  Advance purchase is recommended and can be acquired by calling the Museum at 802-362-3300 or by visiting our website at www.amff.com.
